Roof and Tree Project

Dear Parishioners,

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the “Roof and Tree Fund” at Saint Mary Parish in Jewett City.  Because of your generosity, $56,725.00 was collected.  As a result the main roof of the rectory could be replaced promptly, the wet insulation and crumbling ceilings could be removed, and the deteriorating trees could be taken down.  New ceilings have been installed and we are waiting to have an installation problem corrected before we pay the last installment of the last bill.  The final cost should be $46,971.  This will leave a surplus of over $9,000, and we will begin contacting donors to ask how they want to direct any of their surplus donations.

Thank you also for completing the Holy See Survey in November and December and/or participating in one of the discussions.  The results have been forwarded to the Diocese and ultimately will be forwarded to the Holy See in Rome.  On the local level of our parishes, Father Steve and I have been reading over the results and have begun discussions with our staff as to how best to address the topics and questions raised as a result of your comments and suggestions.  Some aspects can be addressed and/or incorporated into a homily; others will probably need another forum.  We will keep you informed as to how we proceed.

            Sincerely,

         Fr. Ted Tumicki
