Father Tom was born and raised in Hartford the seventh of eight children and has lived in Connecticut his entire life. A first generation American, both parents came over from Ireland. He attended Catholic grammar and high schools in Hartford and Central Connecticut State in New Britain. The thoughts of the priesthood first came to Father Tom as a boy in Hartford but his life took a different direction. Father Tom spent almost 30 years in banking. He was married and he, his wife and their three children moved to Hebron. Unfortunately, after 25 years, the marriage ended.
The pull to the priesthood returned again and after three years of prayer and discernment, Father Tom was accepted by the Diocese and in 2012 entered Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, MA.
In June of 2016 Father Tom was ordained by Bishop Michael Cote. Father Tom spent three years at his first assignment in Putnam, Pomfret, North Grosvenordale and Quinebaug. In July 2019 he joined us at Holy Spirit Catholic Community of St. Mary in Jewett City, St. Catherine in Preston and Ss. Thomas and Anne in Voluntown.
